What is Cosplay?
Just the other day I was in cosplay and did a presentation at my last job training and I was asked what is cosplay and why I do cosplay. So I thought hey why not make a blog post about it
So what is cosplay - Cosplay is short for Costume Play. Which is literally just as it sounds. Being able to dress up as a character from either a book, movie or show you name it. Cosplay can be very simple or very detailed. All cosplay no matter how it may look is still cosplay, and more importantly cosplay is for everyone no matter how old you are or how you look. Anyone can do cosplay.
So why do I cosplay -
I cosplay because I enjoy the chance to get out and step into someone else shoes even if it it a character that does not exists in the real world. I have always had a problem with being the center of attention, though I have looked for attention sometimes when I would feel like no one knew I was there. So over the years going from wanting to not wanting attention has really made me too shy around people in different situations. When I cosplay I have no choice but to be questioned by people about why i'm dressed up as a character, or what the heck am I doing, so in that moment I am able to get some practice of being with people even if I am not dressed as my self. I have only been cosplaying for a little time now and I have improved with my shyness and of course love the chance of being someone else which is why I cosplay.
